About CAA

Chennault Aviation Academy (CAA) is a full-service flight training academy, carrying on the legacy of Lieutenant General Claire Lee Chennault and the American Volunteer Group, known as the Flying Tigers. We are located in Conroe, Texas, about 50 minutes drive north from downtown Houston.

Safety – Our First Priority

Safety First is a way of training and operating that puts safety ahead of all other considerations. There is nothing that supersedes the safe operation and maintenance of our aircraft and the ongoing safety of our employees and customers.

We bring the military training practices into civilian aviation education, incorporating military standards of conduct for our instructors, students, and maintenance personnel.

This approach results in not just FAA licensed pilots, but mature and self-discipled new aviators. We require every student and employee to maintain the standards of a Flying Tiger.

The Chennault Legacy

General Chennault’s Legacy

We strive for the highest standards of integrity and professionalism as a heritage organization of the American Volunteer Group, The original Flying Tigers.

To live up to the legacy of General Claire Chennault and his Flying Tigers, Chennault Aviation Academy must meet standards that exceed every other pilot training operation in the civilian market. We do this by focusing on development and ongoing improvement to our syllabus, pricing, training methods, staff qualifications, and environmental factors that make the flight training experience one that provides a level of competency and judgement in our graduates that is seldom found in low time commercial pilots and flight instructors.

Chennault Aviation Academy carries on the legacy of the founder with flight training that meets the standards of excellence that made the Flying Tigers of WWII heroes to Americans and the Chinese people.

Training Location

Chennault Airfield (25TX) is a modern and well-equipped private airfield owned and operated by Chennault Aviation Academy. It is the centerpiece of the CAA strategic expansion plan; we aim to turn it into a hub that supports a thriving local General Aviation community. At the core of this goal is the new academy hangar and office building, which hosts the flight school. In contrast with a public airport, training in a private airfield provides students with a safer and more controllable environment, allowing them to avoid external interferences and significantly improve training efficiency.
